Jamie Primrose
Born and brought up in Edinburgh, Jamie graduated with a BA Honours in Fine Art from Newcastle University in 1994. Following almost a decade working in London and abroad, he returned home to Scotland to become a professional contemporary Scottish artist in 2003. Since then he has hosted many sell-out exhibitions in Edinburgh and London and his artworks can be seen in many exclusive private and corporate collections across Europe, the USA and Hong Kong.
Jamie’s trademark of capturing the changing light and atmosphere from the sky onto the landscape is showcased in his new Edinburgh oils, as he focuses on winter light at its most dramatic and on the most transient, atmospheric times of day – sunrise and sunset. Influenced by painters including Turner, Monet, Schueler and Rothko, he is also inspired by the unique quality of light in the Scottish capital and the rich tradition of Scottish landscape painting.
Jamie was a recent finalist for the Jolomo Lloyds TSB Scotland Awards 2007 and he has been making a name for himself in the press as a ‘rising star’ and highly collectable artist, having been featured in many publications, from The Times, Scotland on Sunday, and The Guardian to The Herald, The Scotsman and Homes and Interiors Scotland.
